October 2017 Surprise Unwrapped!
Founded in 2013, Cercle is an annual thematic publication created by France’s Cercle Studio, devoting itself to a new topic with each issue.
Five years after its first issue, Cercle’s latest issue ponders over the vast ocean. A closer look at its images from Canada, Hawaii, Georgia, UK and more, conversations with six underwater professionals and a discussion about sea monsters; the magazine supplements you with a further connect to the chosen theme, through a selection of films, fashion, music, design and architecture – all through the prism of contemporary artistic creation, culture and science.

A magazine founded and created by a team which includes three designers and illustrators – Cercle is beautifully designed and well-researched. Dive into Cercle’s latest issue with solo sailor ANNE QUEMERE who talks about crossing the Atlantic on a small boat; an interview delving into the history of Monaco’s Oceanographic Museum with curator PATRICK PIGUET where the museum’s motto is ‘Knowing, loving and protecting the oceans’; uncover the mysteries of the ocean’s sea monsters and legends with NELSON CAZEILS; and a chat with surf photography specialist JEFF DEVINE.
The issue is an interesting, informative read into the depths of the ocean. To quote architect Kacques Rougerie – "It is from the ocean that the destiny of civilizations will come to be born".
