A round-up of events happening this month in cities around the country

As we near the end of the year, and the holiday spirit begins to take over, we pick out a bunch of events celebrating design this month from around the country. Watch out for week-long festivals celebrating culture, breakfast chats with celebrated designers, and more.

Kochi Design Week, Kochi

The second installment of Kochi Design Week will feature panel discussions, talks, exhibitions, and workshops focused on all aspects of design — architecture, product, industrial and visual. Thursday December 12 to Saturday December 14, 2019. Tickets here, prices vary, starting from ₹1,800.

CreativeMornings with Mira Malhotra, Mumbai

CreativeMornings, a monthly gathering that takes place globally, is meant to encourage conversations and a healthy exchange of ideas among like-minded people, led by selected speakers over breakfast. This month, the Mumbai chapter will host graphic designer and visual artist Mira Malhotra who runs Studio Kohl, and is a founding member of Kadak Collective, a global collective of south asian women graphic artists. What If Saturdays, Delhi

What If Saturdays are organised by Space10, a Copenhagen-based independent research and design lab supported by IKEA which recently opened an outpost in Delhi, together with UnBox. The first edition, called ‘What If the Future Was Gender-Fluid?’ looks at how a broadening gender spectrum will change the way we live in and design the world around us. The evening will feature talks by five speakers working with different aspects of gender, followed by a Q&A session. Saturday December 14, 2019. Free entry, register here.

Serendipity Arts Festival, Goa

The week-long festival, a multi-disciplinary arts event celebrating culture through dance, theatre, music, photography, culinary arts, visual arts, and craft, takes over the sunshine state for the fourth time this year. Among other things, it features curated art exhibits, workshops, and exploration of crafts like weaving, contemporary ceramics and glass-making. Sunday December 15 to Sunday December 22, 2019. The India Story, Kolkata

In its fifth edition this year, The India Story is hosting a series of conversations focused on its theme, ‘Conjunction – Where History and Future Collide’, and features art installations and exhibits as well. The event will also showcase the works of several design studios from around the country, including 500 BC, Arjun Rathi Design, Muselab, and others. Friday December 20 to Sunday December 22, 2019.
