The beginning of this new year holds a promising line-up in the world of art and design. Here’s what to watch out for.

Women in Design 2020+, Mumbai



An international conference curated by The HECAR Foundation, Women in Design 2020+ celebrates leading women in architecture, design, and other related fields, from around the world. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan. Three-day conference, Wednesday January 8 to Friday January 10, 2020. Tickets here, ₹5,000. Pune Design Festival, Pune



The fourteenth edition of the Pune Design Festival will explore the theme of crossroads in design via talks, exhibitions and more. Friday January 10 and Saturday January 11, 2020. Tickets here, prices vary, general tickets starting from ₹4,950.

Bombay Duck Design’s Everyday Launch, Mumbai



Independent design studio Bombay Duck Designs is all set to launch Everyday, a series of zines that look at the ‘everyday’ from different perspectives. Each zine is meant to be a collaboration between one artist and writer, a different set each time. Volumes 1 and 2 will be launched at the event — volume 1 has drawings by Madhav Nair (@deadtheduck) and words by Phalguni Desai, while volume 2 has drawings by Anand Radhakrishnan and words by Rachel Lopez. The launch comprises an open house at the Bombay Duck Shop and an informal chat with the zine makers. Friday January 10, 12pm to 7pm, Saturday January 11, 11am to 7pm, and Sunday January 12, 2020, 11am to 6pm. The conversation with the makers will take place on Saturday January 11, 2020 at 5pm. India Art Fair, Delhi



Focused on the contemporary art scene in India and South Asia, expect exhibits from art galleries across the country. The annual event is a big draw for lovers and curators of art. Thursday January 30 to Sunday February 2, 2020. Tickets here, general tickets start at ₹600.

Art Book Depot, Jaipur



Meet independent artists and publishers from South East Asia and beyond at this first-time event that celebrates self-publishing culture. On display will be photo-books, zines, art prints, et cetera. The Art Book Depot is being organised by a Leh-based not-for-profit artist-led project space Farside Collective Foundation along with Round Them Oranges (RTO), a studio and residency based in Jaipur. While the schedule is yet to be released, the event is slated to comprise special exhibitions, book launches, talks, panel discussions and film screenings.
