A round-up of events happening this month in cities around the country

We may be halfway through the month, but there’s still a lot to look forward to for those inclined towards good design. Gear up for GIF exhibits, conversations around typography, and the fourth edition of our very own Oddly Enough series over the next couple of weeks.

Book Launch at Leaping Windows, Mumbai

Appupen, the visual artist and founder/editor of Brainded India, is set to launch his new book Garden Of The Snake. Head over to Leaping Windows in Versova, Mumbai, to get a signed copy of the 60-page comic. Tuesday November 19. Entry free.

Bengaluru ByDesign, Bengaluru

Currently underway, this 10-day design festival gives the city of Bengaluru a makeover with large-scale art installations and design events. The programme includes crafty workshops, engaging conversations, and graphic design exhibits. Until Sunday November 24, 2019. Registrations depend on events. More here.

St+Art Curated Tours, Mumbai, Hyderabad & Delhi

Discover stories behind the street art on guided walks around St+Art’s art districts in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi. These interactive walks take visitors through vibrant neighbourhoods and provide insights into its history too. The curated walks are organised periodically — this month, they will take place on Saturday November 23, 2019 through Mumbai’s Mahim (E) Art District (tickets here, ₹500) and Delhi’s Lodhi Art District (tickets here, ₹700), and on Sunday November 24, 2019 through Hyderabad’s Maqta Art District (tickets here, ₹500).

Kashmiriyat, Bengaluru

For three days, products developed as part of a collaboration between Kashmiri artisans and contemporary designers will be exhibited at the Bangalore International Centre. (Read more about these product collaborations here.) This is an initiative by Commitment to Kashmir, a trust devoted to the betterment of Kashmiri crafts and craftspeople.⁣ Look out for the guided walkthroughs when you visit. There will also be a panel discussion on ‘Craft & Design as a Catalyst For Revival’ on November 26. From Tuesday November 26 to Thursday November 29, 2019. Entry Free.

Raw Collaborative, Ahmedabad

For four days, Raw Collaborative brings designers and design studios from across the country to the Mill Owners’ Association Building in Ahmedabad. Read more about why you ought to visit here. Ladies, Wine & Design, Mumbai

Started by creative director Jessica Walsh, Ladies, Wine & Design (LW&D) is meant to be a supportive, safe space for women, non-binary, agender and gender non-conforming people in the creative field. LW&D’s Mumbai chapter is gathering this month at Levi’s Lounge in Lower Parel for a conversation around typography and its role in graphic design, led by type designer Kimya Gandhi (of Mota Italic) and graphic designer Shreya Arora. EyeMyth Media Arts Festival, Mumbai

This three-day festival, produced by the folks at Unbox Festival and Quicksand, will feature a host of conferences, incubator labs, new media art installations, and virtual reality screenings. There is also FIG, an online and offline GIF exhibit, for which there is a call-out for GIFs (until November 25). The festival will take place at Deepak Cinema in Lower Parel, Mumbai. From Friday November 29 to Sunday December 1, 2019.
